What VORNYX is
VORNYX is an open-source-intelligence (OSINT) research console that runs entirely in your browser. It visualises publicly available network data, plots locations on a map, streams a public cybersecurity news feed and offers an optional AI analyst (ARGUS). It is intended for lawful research on infrastructure, networks and public events.
Data processed in your browser
The following stay on your device and are never sent to us — VORNYX has no backend of its own that stores them:
- Search/scan input (domains, IPs, ASNs, place names) — used only to perform the lookup you requested.
- Session history, chat and saved items — stored locally in your browser's IndexedDB. You can export or wipe this at any time from Settings → Data.
- Preferences (sound, alerts, autonomy) — stored locally.
We set no tracking cookies and run no analytics or advertising.
Third-party services VORNYX calls
When you use a feature, your browser contacts these public services directly. Each has its own privacy policy and may log the request (including your IP address) as part of normal operation:
- Hacker News (Algolia) — public cybersecurity news feed.
- OpenStreetMap / Nominatim — map tiles and geocoding. VORNYX identifies itself and rate-limits requests per OSM's usage policy.
- RIPEstat (RIPE NCC) — network, ASN and BGP intelligence.
- ipwho.is — IP/domain geolocation and ASN enrichment.
- Groq — runs the optional ARGUS AI analyst,Your prompts and relevant console context are sent to Groq to generate responses.
- CDNs (unpkg, cdnjs, Google Fonts) — deliver libraries and fonts.
Personal data
VORNYX is built for infrastructure and event research, not for profiling individuals. It does not include any feature for unmasking or enriching the identity of a private person. Querying an IP address may, in some cases, return data that relates to an identifiable individual; where that occurs and data-protection law (such as the GDPR) applies, the lawful basis relied upon is legitimate interest in security research, balanced against the rights of the individual. Do not use VORNYX to surveil, harass, dox or target private or non-consenting people.
Your choices & rights
- Export your local data as JSON, or wipe all local data, from Settings → Data.
- Clearing your browser storage removes everything VORNYX has kept on your device.
- Where the GDPR or similar laws apply, you may have rights of access, erasure and objection regarding any personal data processed. As VORNYX stores nothing server-side, most of these are exercised directly via the controls above; for anything else, use the contact below.
